Wonki Ware I will soon be taking my first real ceramic class EVER and cannot wait!! I've already begun brainstorming on shapes, color combos, patterns, styles etc etc. There are so many beautiful ceramics out there to be inspired by (both old and new) and as of late I cannot get enough. I first learned of Wonki Ware at the Conran Shop here in NYC. Wonki Ware, started by Di Marshall is comprised of a small team of 40 employees, all from disadvantaged backgrounds in South Africa. Di started working out of her small studio while her children were at school to keep herself occupied. Soon, people began to show up looking for work. Because she had nothing to pay them, she began teaching them the craft. Soon people from all over the country began buying their pottery. images from the Conran Shop and Wonki Ware
