FonthillAllow me to indulge in fantasy for a moment...I came across these pictures of Fonthill, a mansion-turned-tourist-attraction in Pennsylvania. I've actually visited it, but you can't take photos inside.I love the slightly Dickensesque vibe to these pictures, and how they evoke those eccentric uncles so popular in literature. There's still a part of me that wants to stay in a castle with secret passageways. In fact this was the home of Henry Chapman Mercer (1856-1930), archaeologist, anthropologist, ceramist, scholar and antiquarian. He's also responsible for the Moravian Tile Works. The tiles are still made today, and the building is definitely worth a visit if you're ever in Bucks County!
